How much does solar cost?
Most home systems range from $15,000–$35,000 before incentives, with $0-down financing options that often cost less per month than your current electric bill.
Can solar really cover 100% of my power?
For homes with the right roof size, sun exposure, and orientation — yes. Solar Stars regularly designs systems that produce 100% of a homeowner's annual electricity usage, leaving only a small utility connection fee.
Do I need to own my home?
Yes — solar is a long-term home improvement, so we design systems for homeowners. We can help start the conversation with your landlord if you rent.
What happens during a power outage?
Solar alone shuts off for safety. Add an Enphase IQ Battery and your essentials — fridge, lights, Wi-Fi, even HVAC — keep running through outages.
How long does installation take?
Most installs are done in a single day. The full process (design, permits, utility approval, install) typically takes 6–10 weeks.
What if my roof needs work?
We assess your roof during the consult. If it needs repair or replacement, we can coordinate it before install so you only pay for one project.
Are there financing options?
Yes — $0-down loans, leases, and PPAs. We'll walk you through the math, plus any available state and utility incentives in your area, so you can pick the best fit.
Are there solar incentives I can use?
Available incentives may vary by location. Many of our service states and utilities offer rebates, performance payments, or other programs — ask about what's available in your area.
Will solar increase my home's value?
Zillow and Berkeley Lab studies show solar adds roughly $15,000 in resale value on average, and homes with solar sell faster than comparable non-solar homes.
What is net metering?
Net metering lets you send unused solar power back to the grid in exchange for credits on your bill. We design every system to maximize your net metering benefit.
Can I add a battery later?
Absolutely. Every Solar Stars design is battery-ready, so you can add Enphase IQ Battery storage whenever you're ready.
What kind of panels and inverters do you use?
Premium all-black panels with panel-level Enphase micro-inverters. Micro-inverters mean a shaded or underperforming panel never drags down the rest of your array.
What if a panel breaks?
Panels carry 25-year product and performance warranties. We monitor every system we install and proactively reach out if anything looks off.
Do you handle permits and HOA approvals?
Yes — engineering, permits, utility interconnection, and HOA applications are all included. You sign the contract and we handle the paperwork.
How do I know if my roof is a good fit?
South-, east-, and west-facing roofs with minimal shading are ideal, but our engineers can design around shading and complex roof shapes. A free site survey gives you a precise answer.
What states does Solar Stars serve?
Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Arizona — with licensed local crews in every market.
What happens after I request a quote?
A local Solar Stars consultant calls you within one business day with a no-pressure walkthrough, satellite roof design, and your custom savings estimate.
How long do solar panels last?
Quality monocrystalline panels are warrantied for 25 years and typically keep producing 80%+ of their rated output for 30–35 years. Enphase micro-inverters carry a 25-year warranty as well.
What maintenance is required?
Almost none. Rain handles most cleaning. We monitor every system 24/7 via the Enphase app and proactively dispatch a technician if anything underperforms.
Will solar work in cloudy or snowy weather?
Yes — panels produce in diffused light, and snow typically slides off the smooth black glass within a day. Our designs account for your region's real weather patterns, not best-case sun.
How do I monitor my system?
The free Enphase app shows panel-level production, home consumption, battery charge, and outage events in real time, on any phone or laptop.
What if I sell my home?
Owned systems transfer with the home and add resale value. Financed systems can be paid off at closing or assumed by the buyer — we'll help you walk through it.
